Leeds southpaw light-middleweight hope Danny Reynolds looks for his fourth straight win in Leeds at Elland Road next Tuesday (9/5/06) when he takes on the in-form Darren Gethin.
Gethin, who has drawn with Khurram Hussain and beaten Jason Rushton recently, is coming off a credible points loss to Gary McArthur in Scotland and looks set to provide the hard-hitting Reynolds with his most demanding outing to date.
Danny, a former amateur standout who has stopped all three of his opponents to date, has apparently been in blistering form at the gym, “He's been sparring with British and European champions and really holding his own,” Reynolds promoter Mark Bateson told me today.
Also on the Elland Road show, Scarborough's Ryan Ashworth takes on reliable trialhorse Peter Dunn over 6 x 2's and Bradford's undefeated Bantam Robert Nelson takes on the experienced Delroy Spencer.
The show is a black tie affair and features former WBC super-middleweight champion Nigel Benn as guest of honour and the likes of James Hare and Mark Hobson as special guests. John Styles (son of football legend Nobby) and David Taylor QC provide the comedy.
