Craig McEwan's remarkable journey in the professional ranks under the tutelage of Freddie Roach and “Golden Boy Promotions” continued on the bill at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona in the small hours of Saturday morning UK time.
He stopped his second opponent, Tomas Padron in the 4th round to maintain his 100% stoppage record (2 wins 2 stoppages), and as if that wasn't enough, he had none other than Marco Antonio Barrera supporting him at ringside.
McEwan is quoted as saying: "Marco Antonio Barrera is a partner with my promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, and Marco came to support me at ringside - I was thrilled when Barrera told me I had impressed him in the way that I had finished off Padron.
"I dropped Padron to the canvas in the first round with a cracking right hook to the body but he was a tough guy and he kept coming forward trying to batter my ribs with left hooks.
"The end came in the last round when I whacked him with a blistering four-punch combination and he went down on one knee, forcing the referee to jump in and stop the fight”
