John Murray and O’Donnell to Share Vegas Dream by Terry Dooley Apr 4th 2007

British boxers John Murray and John O'Donnell will receive the chance of a lifetime when they appear on the undercard of the Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather on May 5th in Las Vegas. The card itself is only going to feature a handful of fights so the appearance of these two prospects is a big coup for the fighters, Mick Hennessy and British boxing. BBN spent time with John Murray last week and noticed a certain glint in his eye. A brief phone call confirmed the details. John is made-up to receive this opportunity to fight in Las Vegas on a massive bill; the fight is also going to be a HBO blockbuster and is the biggest fight in recent memory. Murray pulled out of his last fight due to the birth of his first child yet the new date more than makes up for the disappointment. Murray grew up watching the Mexican superfighter's fight in Vegas and now gets the chance to show off his left hook reliant style in the fight capital of the world. After a slow 2006 it seems that Murray is going to be able to make good on his promise of showing people that he is still the British prospect to watch out for as he gets an opportunity that most British fighters would love to receive. Murray has fought in the USA once before and won positive reviews from the usually hard line US crowd. Another impressive performance against a decent foe could see John jump further up the WBC rankings as well as bringing him to a new audience. O'Donnell has long been tipped as a prospect to watch out for and the whole experience should elevate his confidence a notch or two. Appearing on this bill will be something to talk about in future as part of a “I was there” conversation yet it can also give both lads the platform to impress a new audience.
