Earl slams Khan as 'a nobody' by Ian McNeilly Apr 27th 2007

Graham Earl is angry. Frustrated at what he sees as a lack of respect shown by Amir Khan, the former British and Commonwealth lightweight champion has slammed the youngster as 'nothing' and 'a nobody'. An attempt to get the Sports Network stablemates together for a May showdown failed and now Bolton's Olympic medallist challenges for the Commonwealth title against Glasgow holder Willie Limond. Earl, expecting a May comeback after his blood and guts brawl with Michael Katsidis, will now not box until July. Earl resents the path taken by the new kid on the block. "Khan's not even in the top 10, but he wants to jump everybody and be number one," Earl told Luton Today. "I've been fighting 11 years and have had tough tests and come through those tests. He's had no tests. "To me Amir Khan is nothing. He's a nobody. He hasn't got anything I want and I'd be taking a step down to fight him." With seemingly no love lost between the pair, Earl thinks Limond might have enough to beat Khan anyway. "I've sparred with Willie. He's a nice fella and he could do the job."
