John Ingle has confirmed his charge Lee McAllister will challenge for the vacant World Boxing Foundation Intercontinental lightweight title at the Aberdeen Beach Ballroom on 26th May.
An opponent has yet to be chosen for the bout but Sheffield-based Ingle said that McAllister would most likely face a foreigner.
The WBF Intercontinental belt was last held by Steffy Bull but relinquished when the Doncaster man called an end to his career in February before he was tempted out of what proved to be a very short-lived retirement to fight Amir Khan earlier this month.
Khan halted his compatriot inside three rounds but if Ingle had got his way then McAllister would have had this opportunity sooner as an offer was made for Bull to defend his championship against the Aberdonian last October.
Instead McAllister squared off with Ben Hudson over eight rounds, winning at a canter on points.
Should he be successful in May, McAllister would put himself in line for a crack at the full WBF title-holder, Mlungisi Dlamini of South Africa.
McAllister has also offered to solve the perceived problem of declining ticket sales at Scottish shows.
It's likely that Lee is the country's number one ticket seller at the moment. The Aberdeen Assassin has repeatedly stated that he is willing to take on all comers and would undoubtedly put more bums on seats in the Granite City than his fellow Scots have managed in recent times.
“If anyone were to put on a show in Aberdeen they wouldn't need to worry about ticket sales because I could sell-out a venue like the Exhibition Centre by myself if I ever secure a shot at a major title,” said McAllister.
