WSO Xmas Bash at the Legendary York Hall

by Kevin Taylor
Nov 23rd 2007
The World Sports Organisation (WSO) stages the first of its two Xmas boxing shows at the legendary York Hall on December 1st.

JJ Ojuederie, fresh off his International Masters cruiserweight triumph over Ayitey Powers in October tops the bill against Nick Okoth.

Ojuederie has his hands full with the fighting fireman from Battersea. The man they call "the Ox" recently scored a big stoppage win in the Czech Republic.

Ashley Theophane makes a surprise appearance and if he prevails it will mark his 20th win as a pro following his recent stoppage win in St Lucia. Rumour has it that several US promoters are interested in signing the Kilburn light-welterweight which is a tribute to Ashley's ability and professionalism. This could be Theophane's last appearance in the UK.

An interesting match at light-welterweight sees Hove's Ben Murphy versus Giovanni Frontin from Mauritius who makes his pro debut. Frontin is a decent stand up boxer who won a silver at the Commonwealth Games. However, the powerful Murphy, also a decent amateur, could be a step too far for the Mauritian.

The battle of Hampshire, staged in Bethnal Green, pits the unbeaten New Milton middleweight Danny Goode against the Isle of Wight's Jay Morris. Morris is confident but Goode has a habit of muddling through difficult contests and is expected to be too big for the able Morris who seems to be getting used to defeat.

Up and coming heavyweight Ali Adams, backed by a huge West London support, takes on the experienced Radcliffe Green.

Greg Barton, Rocky Dean, Shanee Martin and the comebacking Richard Horton make up the nine fight card.

The show is selling out as it strategically placed at the traditional home of British boxing a week before the Hatton contest.

On December 14th a five fight WSO card at the K2 Centre in Crawley card features Ross Minter, Paul Halpin, Ben Jones, Ben Murphy and Anthony Young. All are local boys from East Sussex. All the opponents are still be to be selected.
