Gbenga: I won't be a pushover

by Kevin Taylor
Dec 5th 2007

Michael Gbenga today hit back at claims that his fight with Dean Francis this weekend would be a mismatch.

"My record is a lot better than is stated on Boxrec, I have won 16 and lost 2 fights, my record can be checked with Ghanaian Boxing Authority," said the Nigerian who is now based in Ghana.

The fight has been sanctioned by the Commonwealth Boxing Board and takes place on at the Bolton Arena on Saturday evening.

"I'm really hungry for this fight and I can tell you I will not be a pushover.

"I have known about this fight for six weeks and I have been training hard."

When pushed for how he would approach the fight Gbenga was not prepared to reveal any of his secrets.

"I have seen a tape of Francis against Ayittey Powers and although he is a good boxer I am confident in my ability, I know I can take home the belt on Saturday."
