BBC to show Mayweather v Hatton

by Ian McNeilly
Dec 14th 2007

Fight fans who didn't have access to last week's pay-per-view bout between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton have a chance to see the action on terrestrial TV on Sunday.

The much-anticipated showdown for the WBC welterweight title will be shown in full on BBC Two at 1pm.

Having had their fingers well and truly burned by the expensive Audley Harrison fiasco, the BBC sans-Greg Dyke seems a bit reluctant to get involved with live boxing - even though the viewing figures for the sport are comparatively fantastic.

This seems to be their way of dipping their toe back into the ring and it's very welcome.  It follows a delayed screening by the broadcaster of Joe Calzaghe's victory against Mikkel Kessler last month.
