The “Doc” is in Limbo

by Tom Walker
Dec 21st 2007
Craig Docherty, Glasgow's former Commonwealth Lightweight champion and challenger for the British, European and WBU titles has found himself in a sort of boxing Limbo.

His licence has been suspended under article 24 of the BBBoC rules pending resolution of the complaint lodged by Tommy Gilmour MBE and will not be resurrected (the licence) until such time as the dispute is settled, presumably at the next meeting of the area council.

Craig is now, or rather was just recently, boxing for rival Scottish promoter Alex Morrison, when he defeated Nigerian Silence Saheed in the Thistle hotel show on the 9th December, having previously been under Tommy Gilmour's banner.

It is hoped that this can be quickly resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned since the “Doc” really doesn't have time to spare in boxing terms.
