Board issues statement on Scott Harrison

by British Boxing
May 14th 2008

The following is the complete statement issued today from the British Boxing Board of Control regarding Scott Harrison:

Scott Harrison appeared before a tribunal of the Board at The Old Library in Cardiff yesterday afternoon on matters relating to renewal of his Professional Boxer's Licence and allegations of misconduct.

Mr. Harrison was represented at the tribunal by Mr. Grant Jeans and his father Mr. Peter Harrison appeared as a witness on his behalf.

At the conclusion of the tribunal the Stewards determined that:-

  1. Mr. Harrison was guilty of bringing the sport of boxing into disrepute.
  1. The suspension imposed on his Boxer's Licence on the 13th December 2006 would continue until the 31st January 2009 and this decision takes into account the time that his licence had already been suspended.
  1. If it is Mr. Harrison's intention to continue as a licensed boxer after this time it will be necessary for him to complete the Community Service Order imposed on him by a Court in Scotland to the satisfaction of the Community Service Officer and to provide a copy of a report to the Stewards at or before time of application.
  1. With regard to outstanding matters which have not reached conclusion, in both Scotland and Spain, the Stewards may, without prejudice to any action already taken, take any further action as may be deemed appropriate having regard to all the circumstances and the Stewards will also want to take into consideration the future conduct of Mr. Harrison subsequent to the tribunal.
  1. An order of costs was made against Mr. Harrison but these to be paid at a rate to be agreed from any purses earned subsequent to reinstatement of licence after the 31st January 2009.

Mr. Harrison has been reminded of his right to Appeal pursuant to the Board's Regulation 28 and if, after the 31st January 2009, it is possible for Mr. Harrison's Boxer's Licence to be reinstated then licensing and medical formalities applicable to any applicant boxer or boxer renewing a licence will have to be concluded successfully.
