Commonwealth welterweight champion Craig Watson has revealed he's never slept better in the run up to a fight.
His secret? He watches videos of previous fights of his challenger, Matthew Hatton before he goes to bed.
"I've been trying to watch them to learn something about him but he bores me so much he sends me to sleep!" said the confident Mancunian of his home city rival.
"I manage to watch a couple of rounds then I have to turn it off because I've had enough. I've seen enough by then anyway - he always does the same thing, he's so predictable."
Watson takes on Ricky's ickle brother on the undercard of Hatton senior's 'Homecoming' fight in the first defence of the Commonwealth strap he won on points against Ali Nuumbembe last December. However, his most recent outing saw him crash to a third round stoppage defeat at the hands of unbeaten Italian Daniele Petrucci in March. Watson travelled to Rome at short notice to challenge for the wholly ridiculous 'EU' title. Hardly the best preparation for a title defence then?
"I should never have taken that fight in hindsight. I was tired and working all hours in the warehouse. But I'm not going to complain about that now - you live and learn and get on with it."
Having to earn money in the real world has not been an issue this time around.
"I've got a sponsor and have had a ten-week camp for this fight which has gone brilliant. I've never been in better shape for a fight and Matthew Hatton is going to find that out the hard way."
