Welsh middleweight boxer Gary Lockett has warned the American public not to underestimate him ahead of his bout against WBC and WBO champion Kelly Pavlik at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City this Saturday.
While Lockett admits he is unknown in the States he refuses to go down without a fight. Speaking to Setanta Sports News he said: “I think they [America] think Kelly Pavlik is a lot better than what he is.
“I've seen a lot of his fights and I saw a DVD of his seventh or eighth fight, where he boxed a journeyman and he got hit on the head and he started break dancing.
“He's been dropped by [Jermain] Taylor and Fulgencio Zuniga as well. The guy does go over when he gets hit, but his powers of recuperation are fantastic.
“Whether I've got the ability to beat him rather than just punch power, we'll see on Saturday night.”
