Gilmour trying for Docherty-Sinitsin II

by Ronnie McCluskey
Oct 20th 2004
Fight promoter Tommy Gilmour has promised to do his utmost to lure Boris Sinitsin into a rematch with Glaswegian Craig Docherty.

The Commonwealth champion lost a close, albeit clear decision to rugged Russian Boris Sinitsin at the Kelvin Hall last Friday night. Despite this setback, many ringside observers, myself included, felt the Scot's chance of victory was dealt a tremendous blow because of the referee's consistent blunders.

Sinitsin's constant holding was overlooked by a dubious referee, although if truth be told, the Russian deserved victory.

Now Gilmour intents to make Sinitsin an "offer he cant refuse" - namely, if the Russian returns for a rematch, he will grant him a much deserved world title shot! This of course may backfire drastically, depending on the result of a return bout.

Either way, February is being talked about, for a possible return. Stay tuned.
