The British Boxing Board of Control General Secretary Simon Block has today announced his intention to retire from his post on the 17th October 2008.
In a press release he announces that the decision is not a sudden one and has been with the full knowledge of Chairman Charles Giles and Assistant Secretary Robert Smith.
Simon goes on to say "It has been a privilege and a pleasure to have served both the Board and the sport of professional boxing for these last 28 years and I am grateful to have been given that opportunity."
For the time being Simon will continue in his role as Honorary Secretary of the Commonwealth Boxing Council at least until the next AGM on the 19th November.
BBN wish Simon all the best in whatever he decides to do in the future and hope he enjoys a happy retirement.
