Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis shares his taste in music when he appears on ITV's 'Orange Playlist' this week.
The show, which seems to be a Desert Island Discs for the 21st century, interviews a chosen celebrity and persuades them to compile their ultimate playlist.
Unsurprisingly, the big man is a hip-hop and rap fan and his 'Present Track' is by 50 Cent, the song ‘In Da Club'. “When 50 Cent first came out he came out on the street level with some mixed tapes and he was pretty good. At first he came out and insulted all the rappers out there, he offended a lot of people but he had to do that to get known.”
The purported deep-thinking chess player had a message for all the wannabe thugs and gangstas out there: "In songs there is a social conscience in the lyrics, music is suppose to teach you something, try to listen to what they are saying, don't just rock your head.”
Catch Lennox interviewed by host Lauren Laverne on Orange Playlist, Thursday 7th October at midnight. The show will be repeated on ITV2, Friday 8th at 7pm.
