Olympic Gold medalist Audley Harrison is still convinced his time will come as he prepares to battle George Arias of Brazil at the MEN Arena in Manchester on Saturday.
The 36-year-old who won the gold medal at the Sydney Games in 2000, is using the story of Mel Fisher to keep him motivated.
Harrison explained, "Mel Fisher was a treasure hunter who searched and searched the sea for 16 years for gold on sunken Spanish ships and never found anything.
"His motto was 'Today is the day' and that kept him going. Every day he got out of bed, full of optimism that his time would come. It finally did for him and I know it will for me aswell."
Fisher finally discovered the wreck of the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha off of the Florida Keys in 1985. The estimated $450 million cache recovered, known as "The Atocha Motherlode," included 40 tons of gold and silver and some 100,000 Spanish silver coins known as "Pieces of Eight", gold coins, Colombian emeralds, golden and silver artifacts and 1000 silver bars.
After the discovery, the United States government claimed title to the wreck, and the State of Florida seized many of the items Fisher had retrieved from salvage expeditions. After eight years of litigation, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Fisher and he died a rich man in 1998 and Harrison says the former Indiana chicken farmer is a huge inspiration to him.
He added:"I am the same as him. I have said every year 'I am going to win a world' title and everyone laughs and says 'you didn't this year'.
"But people laughed at him as well and he carried on and succeeded - I will do the same.
"I am in the best place spiritually, physically and mentally and I feel like I am a seasoned pro and my best years are ahead of me.
"I may not be the best fighter, I may not have the best chin but I am still a world class heavyweight and I will win the world title"
