Sheffield's John Fewkes has failed to make the weight for his English title fight with Martin Gethin which takes place at the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre in Nottingham tonight (Friday).
Unbeaten Fewkes was 1lb 3oz over the 9st 9lb limit for the fight for vacant title aganst the also unbeaten Gethin from Walsall. This was after initially weighing slightly more followed by an hour's attempt to shift the excess - an ultimately futile attempt. The fight will still take place but only Gethin, who weighed four ounces under the limit, can claim the title should he win.
Rendall Munroe who defends his European super-bantamweight title for the second time and opponent Armenian Arsen Martirosian both came in under the limit of 8st 10lbs.
There were no weight problems for the fighters involved in the other English title fight, both Scott Haywood and Dean Harrison coming in under the 10st limit for their title fight at light-welterweight.
There are a few tickets remaining for the show that will be televised live on Sky Sports One.
