With just four weeks to go until Jon Thaxton defends his British lightweight title against English-based Scot Dave Stewart, the venue for the contest has been arranged.
After several weeks of talks and discussions with a number of potential venues, it has now been agreed that the fight will be held on Friday, October 5th at The Ice Experience which used to be part of the old Norwich Sport Village where Jon Thaxton has boxed on so many occasions before.
Neil Featherby said on behalf of promoter Mick Hennessy, “The atmosphere should be electric particularly with the way they have built the seating up around the ice rink over looking what will be the boxing ring.
“The Directors of The Ice Experience have been really helpful and seriously keen to make this work for which we can't thank them enough.
“Mick Hennessy is putting together a fantastic fight card and with Jon topping the bill against Dave Stewart for his British Lightweight Title, you can be sure that we will see another fantastic night of professional boxing at what was for many a year the home of professional boxing here in Norfolk”.
Chief Executive Director of The Ice Experience, Richard Coultard who has been very instrumental in ensuring that once again professional boxing is to be held at this venue was keen to point out that he and all his directors are determined to work closely with the promoters to ensure that this is hopefully the first of many shows saying “I am so pleased that Jon can once again box at this venue.
“We have worked very hard in trying to establish an ice rink with excellent facilities for the people of Norwich and now we can also looking forward to a really cool nights professional boxing here at The Ice Experience”.
