The latest notices from the British Boxing Board of Control for January, which includes the fight everyone in the Midlands wants to see – Birmingham's Wayne Elcock against Dudley's Darren McDermott.

British Championship.

MIDDLEWEIGHT
WAYNE ELCOCK (Holder) v DARREN MCDERMOTT

Purse offers are called for to be submitted, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached, to the Board's Head Office by 12.00.noon on Wednesday, 13th February 2008, the contest to take place by the end of May 2008.

LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT
GARY WOOLCOMBE (Holder) v RYAN RHODES

Following the opening of purse bids on 9th January 2008 the successful bid was submitted by Promoter Frank Maloney, the contest is to take place at the York Hall, Bethnal Green on 18th April 2008.

LIGHTWEIGHT
JONATHAN THAXTON (Holder) v AMIR KHAN

Following the withdrawal of Amir Khan the Stewards have made no order at this time but will consider a voluntary defence by Jonathan Thaxton in the meantime if a suitable match can be made. Any application submitted from an Agent, Matchmaker or Promoter in respect of this voluntary defence will receive the consideration of the Stewards.

SUPER-FEATHERWEIGHT
CARL JOHANNESON (Holder) v KEVIN MITCHELL

The Stewards were advised that this contest has had to be postponed due to injury to boxer Johanneson. A new date is to be provided by Promoter Frank Warren.

FEATHERWEIGHT (Final Eliminator)
PAUL APPLEBY v MARTIN LINDSAY

Following the opening of purse bids on 9th January 2008 the successful bid was submitted by Promoter Barry Hearn for the contest to take place at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow on 29th February 2008. Please be reminded that this contest will also be for the vacant Celtic Featherweight Championship.

English Championship.

HEAVYWEIGHT
JOHN McDERMOTT v PELE REID

Following the opening of purse bids on 9th January 2008, the successful bid was submitted by Promoter Frank Maloney, the contest is to take place at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London on 18th April 2008.

SUPER-MIDDLEWEIGHT
TONY DODSON (Holder) v PAUL DAVID

The Stewards were advised that following agreement between the parties, this contest is to take place at the Liverpool Olympia, Liverpool on 23rd February 2008, to be promoted by Promoter Dennis Hobson

MIDDLEWEIGHT (Vacant)
PAUL SMITH v CELLO RENDA

The Stewards have approved an application from Promoter Frank Warren for the above contest to take place on the 1st March 2008 at a venue as yet to be confirmed.

LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT
ANDREW FACEY (Holder) v MARK LLOYD

The Stewards were advised that Mark Lloyd had withdrawn from the above contest.

The Stewards approved the following contest to be put out for purse bids

ANDREW FACEY (Holder) v THOMAS McDONAGH which should be submitted, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions as attached, to the Board's Head Office by 12.00.noon on Wednesday, 13th February 2008, the contest to take place by the end of May 2008.

WELTERWEIGHT (Vacant)
MATTHEW HATTON v ADNAN AMAR

Pursuant to Regulation 9.32(b) the above contest is again put out for purse offers to be submitted, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached, to the Board's Head Office by 12.00.noon on Wednesday, 13th February 2008, the contest to take place by the end of May 2008.

LIGHTWEIGHT
JOHN MURRAY (Holder) v JOHN FEWKES

Following the opening of purse bids on 9th January 2008 the successful bid was submitted by Promoter Hennessy Sports. The contest to take place at the Nottingham Arena, Nottingham on 18th April 2008.

Should the Board receive application for Final Eliminator status for the British Lightweight Championship, this will be given due consideration by the Stewards.

Celtic Championship

FEATHERWEIGHT (Vacant)
PAUL APPLEBY v MARTIN LINDSAY

Following the opening of purse bids on the 9th January 2008 the successful bid was submitted by Promoter Barry Hearn for the contest to take place at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow on 29th February 2008. SUPER FLYWEIGHT (Vacant)
JULIETTE WINTER v SHANEE MARTIN

No purse offers being received for this contest by the deadline, the Stewards have decided to take no further action at this time.
