Matty Hough is set to challenge for a first professional title next month as he tops an action-packed bill at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
The Walsall-born fighter, 7-2-1, will go toe-to-toe with Birmingham-based Max Maxwell in a British Boxing Board of Control appointed Midland Area Middleweight Title fight on Thursday, 28th February.
This will be Hough's first taste of action since his draw with Welshman Jamie Ambler last November whilst Maxwell will be looking to build on his record of five wins and one defeat when he steps into the ring before the title shot on 25th January against Bolton's Johnny Enigma, 1-1.
Hough will be joined by a host of undefeated Midlands fighters in what has all the makings of a great nights boxing in the Black Country.
The show, which will be 1st Team Promotions' opening event of 2008, will see Wolverhampton light-welterweight Dean Harrison, 10 (2), back on home soil for the first time since his fifth-round stoppage of the Dominican Republic's Ramon Guevara at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in December.
Stafford's light-welterweight Rob Hunt, 7(1)-0, will be hoping to record an eighth successive victory whilst Wolverhampton's Rob Kenney, 4-0-1, will be looking to impress in his hometown. The light-middleweight is highly-regarded by 1st Team and will no doubt relish the chance to show what he can do at The Civic.
Halesowen light-welterweight Scott Evans, 2-0, steps into the ring in search of a third career win whilst Birmingham heavyweight Neil Perkins is in line to make his professional debut.
Finally, unbeaten Wolverhampton women's boxing sensation Lyndsey Scragg, 3-(2)-0, will be looking to build on her impressive start to life as a professional boxer.
“We're delighted to be putting on such a great show,” explained 1st Team Promotions spokesman, PJ Rowson. “Matty is ready for a title fight and the fact that the entire undercard are unbeaten shows the depth of talent we have in the area.
“It will be a thrilling night of boxing and the show is proof that the future of Midlands boxing is very bright indeed.”
Tickets, priced at £30 or £50 ringside, are available from PJ Rowson on 07976 283 157 or from the Wolverhampton Civic Hall Box Office on 0870 320 7000.
