After his failed attempt to win the WBA heavyweight title, Matt Skelton has been handed another chance to win a major title by being nominated by the European Boxing Union to fight for their vacant heavyweight title.
The Bedford Bear will face German based Luan Krasniqi, who has a record of 30-3-1. Krasniqi is no stranger when it comes to facing British opponents and made his debut at the Elephant and Castle in London in 1997. He has faced four British opponents in Henry Senior, Michael Murray, Shane Woollas and Julius Francis, winning them all.
A former European champion, Krasniqi has fought for the WBO title losing to Lamon Brewster, when he was stopped in the 9th while ahead on all of the cards back in September 2005.
Purse bids for the fight have to be at the EBU's head office by 18th February 2008.
