Hatton looks set to sell out City of Manchester Stadium

by Kevin Taylor
Mar 14th 2008

Ricky Hatton's homecoming fight in Manchester on the 24th May is already looking to have a sell out crowd after 42,000 tickets were sold as at 1.30pm today (Friday 14th).

Tickets went on sale properly this morning, although 15,000 were sold on a pre-sale basis on Thursday.

Ticket sales are already on par with the 42,000 that watched Nigel Benn vs. Chris Eubank at the home of Manchester United (Old Trafford) in 1993 and the City of Manchester stadium which has a capacity of 55,000 is expected to be sold out on the night.

Promoter Frank Maloney exclaimed "This is the biggest sale by an individual sportsman, he is outselling popstars.

"Judging by the enquires we could have sold out a venue with a 60 or 70,000 capacity."
