Former British welterweight champion Neil Sinclair gets a tough assignment on 7th June when he travels to Italy to take on EU champion Daniele Petrucci.
The North Belfast puncher has an ominous task, as Petrucci starched Commonwealth holder Craig Watson in three rounds in March, while “Sinky” has never been noted for his resilience.
Petrucci also has a technical draw with decent Antonio Lauri and a split win over Giammario Grassellini. Sinclair is coming off the back of an eight round points win over Juan Martinez Bas in Letterkenny.
Cormac Campbell, head of the reinvigorated Irish Boxing website is planning the inaugural meeting of the Irish Boxing Supporters Club. A Belfast venue at the end of May appears to be the plan, in which a guest speaker and DVD viewing are proposed. According to the Irish News schedule, Bury ABC are making the trip over on Saturday 10May to face Banbridge ABC. Amir's younger brother Haroon Khan will feature in a rematch with local crowd pleaser Andrew Watson. Doors open at 7.30pm.
It seems the Tallaght show mooted for the 12July was announced a touch prematurely with the Eddie Hyland-Kevin O'Hara Irish title rematch far from a done deal. The surprising Jamie Moore-Ciaran Healy fight was never on solid foundations either and both are in doubt.
Brian Peters is planning another big show according to this latest press release:
“Brian Peters Promotions will hold a press conference on Wednesday, May 6th to announce the next Hunky Dorys Fight Night which will feature a mouth watering double header with Bernard Dunne and Matthew Macklin in action in Dublin.
The undercard will also be confirmed with some of Ireland's brightest talents set to feature.
The press conference starts at 1pm in the O' Connell Suite in the newly reopened Burlington Hotel in Dublin.”
