O’Loughlin eyes Ingleby Rematch by Mike Pendegast Jun 28th 2008

Hull heavyweight, Dean O'Loughlin, has his mind set on a rematch with the only man to have beaten him, Morcambe's Dave Ingleby. The defeat was in October of 2007, and after defeating Preston's Howard Daley at the K.C. Stadium earlier this month, another showdown is now scheduled for October of this year. Ingleby was stopped by Daley after the victory over O'Loughlin, at The Doncaster Dome, which is proof in itself of the unpredictability of boxing in this division and at this level. The 25 year old is confident he can develop as a pro after coming through his latest contest with relative ease. “There were times when I was a little rusty”, O'Loughlin explained, “But not many of his punches hit me”. Dean has only been a pro for a couple of years, but has already made strides towards an area title. When he first started out, he was a brawler, but thanks to new trainer, Jimmy Phelan, he is able to change strategies throughout the bout. “When I watched my first fight compared to my latest fight, it's like a totally different person”, said the former Hull F.C. prop. With the likes of Phil Goodwin and Harry Mathews also making a name for themselves, and Luke Campbell, Vinny Collingwood and Luke Allen rising through the amateur ranks, the future is beginning to look bright for Hull.
