WBO Featherweight Champion Scott Harrison sent an intimidating message to undefeated challenger Samuel Kebede at Wednesday's press conference held in the downtown Marriott Hotel in Glasgow, Scotland. The press conference, chaired by Harrison's manager and consultant to Harrison's promoter Frank Warren, was going smoothly until Harrison predicted the fight would not go the distance and that he was unconcerned with Kebede as an opponent.
In response the challenger remarked that he would outbox the WBO king easily toa points victory. A clearly incensed Harrison glared at the Ethiopian now living in Stockholm, Sweden with thinly veiled menace for the remainder of the press conference.
At the request of Maloney, the two fighters went outside the hotel to pose together for the benefit of the roomful of Scottish press and television crews gathered to cover the event. Once in a face off position for the cameras, Harrison began to quietly speak to Kebede and inched his fist to within a mere inch of the undefeated African's face. While Kebede smiled and seemed unaffected by the Champion's actions, the media crews in attendance were clearly energized by Harrison's intimidation tactics, feverishly snapping pictures and lining up to interview the two fighters.
If the fight itself, which takes place on October 29th at Glasgow Scotland's Braehead arena and will be televised in the UK by Sky Sports, is half as interesting as the initial press conference turned out to be, Harrison's hardcore fan base are in for an event to remember.
