Craig Dickson is aiming to emulate best mate Kevin McIntyre by grabbing title glory in 2008. The Pollok welterweight is back in action at Clydebank's Play Drome on November 24. Former Commonwealth welterweight title challenger Dickson will be looking to keep himself on track for another crack at a major title by beating Neil Bonner. Dickson was ringside in Irvine last month to see pal McIntyre – who trains alongside him at Colin Bellshaw's Paisley gym – upset Fifer Kevin Anderson and lift the British welterweight title. And the 27-year-old admits McIntyre's shock victory has given him a renewed determination to reach the top of the fight game. Dickson – who has a 14-3-1 (8 KOs) record – said: “A lot of people were surprised that Kevin beat Anderson, but I wasn't. I fought Anderson a couple of years ago for the Commonwealth title and although he beat me I felt I gave him plenty of problems. “I spotted a few chinks in his armour and I always felt Kevin's style was perfect to expose these. “Kevin and I train together and I must admit his victory has given me a new lease of life. I lost a couple of fights after I fought Anderson, but Kevin has proved that you can come back from a few defeats and still become a champion. “I know I have to be at the top of my game against Neil Bonner, but I'd like to sign off on 2007 with an impressive victory and then look to get myself back in the title mix in the New Year. “I don't know if Kevin and I would ever fight, although you never know, but there are plenty of titles out there and Ali Nuumbembe – who took Anderson's Commonwealth title – would be a great fight for me to get.” Clydebank's Gary McArthur – unbeaten in nine – tops the Chris Gilmour promotion in the first defence of his British Masters lightweight title against Welshman Henry Jones. Stirling welterweight Jamie Coyle, unbeaten Drumchapel super-bantamweight David Savage Jnr and Coatbridge middleweight Chris Black complete the bill.
