Far from being on the missing list, Jon Thaxton was happy to talk to BBN this afternoon and he's already in training for a possible title fight with Amir Khan in February, and he's put Christmas on hold in the Thaxton household in order to prepare for the fight.
Although the British Boxing Board of Control have called for purse bids for January 9th, rumours have been going round the boxing world that unbeaten Khan is looking for a shot at the European title against holder Yuri Romanov on the 2nd February.
The Norwich puncher who is unbeaten in his last twelve fights has heard differently.
"I've heard that Romanov will not be ready for a fight in February, so surely Khan has to fight me then. He can't fight anyone else for the Commonwealth as I am the mandatory, and I also have the British title.
"The only option for him is to go down the WBU route, but will ITV accept that? They definitely will not put up with him fighting a ticking over fight in February, surely.
"The WBU title doesn't mean Jack. I realised that after I won the WBF title, I was happy I won it but really it didn't mean anything in the boxing world, but at the time it served its purpose.
"I'm ready for the fight and if he wants it his people know who to call to get the fight made."
Khan took just 72 seconds to stop the former British and Commonwealth champion Graham Earl last time out and later claimed he had beaten the best in Britain, another point that Thaxton doesn't agree with.
"He says he has beaten the number one in Britain, but I don't agree, he's beaten Graham Earl, but that's the same Graham Earl who refused to fight me on August 3rd.
"Khan has beaten a fighter who wouldn't step in the ring with me, don't get me wrong he put in a fantastic performance against Graham and caught him perfectly, whether he caught him cold or not is another matter.
"The kid's very talented, but he's still only 21, it's taken me fifteen years to get to the position I am in now, and I don't like the way he is dissing me, he should have a bit of respect for his elders.
"He's young and ambitious and I'll honour my side of the bargain by fighting him for my British title. I'm the best in the country and I will prove it in the ring."
In yesterday's press release from promoters Sports Network, Khan claimed he would be better off fighting Delia Smith, who like Thaxton hails from Norwich. Khan claimed at least Delia "could crack an egg". This comment wasn't missed by Thaxton.
"Everyone knows I am a bit of a puncher, okay Khan is a lot more talented, but has he got a better dig than me?
"As for not being able to crack an egg, I am put out by that, I think I'm quite a good cook - obviously not in Delia Smith's class though!
"I had a long discussion with my promoter Mick Hennessey yesterday and we had a chuckle at the press release from Sports Network. We are in good spirits and we want the fight, I'll do my work in the gym and let the people who promote and manage me deal with the paperwork and hopefully we can get the fight on."
First round to Thaxton Khan and his lot are not confident at all fighting thaxton, although Romanov is good but not a puncher you can see the logic Earl beats Romanov-Khan beats Earl-khan beats Romanov? Remember the scare thaxton gave Hatton.

i had a feeling khan would try and side step jt by going for the ebu title.i must say thaxton is the british number one and champion so why doesnt khan just take the fight and sign the contract.my guess is fr knows he will be in for a tough night against jt and will make excuses to avoid him.
