Three boxing brothers are set to make a bit of history next month when they all make their professional debuts at the ExCel Arena in London.
Twins Ryan and Liam Walsh, 21, and elder brother Michael, 23, who all live in Cromer, Norfolk, have signed deals with promoter Frank Warren and have been booked to appear on the undercard of the Amir Khan-Martin Kristjansen fight on February 2nd.
The most famous example of three brothers appearing on the same bill is probably when the Kray twins, Ronnie and Reggie, and elder brother Charlie fought together at the Royal Albert Hall in 1951.
All the Walsh boys go into the pro ranks after promising amateur careers, Michael was the 2006 ABA flyweight champion beating Stewart Langley on points in the final while Ryan was a beaten finalist the same year losing to Luke Campbell. Liam and Ryan won Junior ABA titles in 2004 the same year that Khan beat Nicky Smedley for the 60kg title.
The brothers will train at the Norwich gym of manager-trainer Graham Everett, who is convinced they have what it takes to reach the top in British boxing.
"They have been working in the gym, adjusting from the amateur to the professional style," he told the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press.
"They are all good, hard-working boys and I personally believe all three of them are destined for big things, very big things.
"It's a fantastic way for them to launch their careers, but I can guarantee they will not be over-awed. Nothing holds any fears for them - any of them. I think you will see them making their first marks in boxing.
It's just a shame that Graham's most famous charge Jon Thaxton will not be fighting Amir Khan in the main event on the same night.
