Jon Thaxton could be forced to go over old ground to claim the Lonsdale belt outright after the British Boxing Board of Control have nominated former British champion Lee Meager as his next challenger. Purse bids need to be submitted by 12th March with the fight to take place before the end of July 2008.
Thaxton claimed the title in December 2006, when he outpointed Salford's Meager over twelve rounds in Dagenham. He has successfully defended the title twice against Scott Lawton and Dave Stewart.
Matthew Marsh may get a shot at the British super-bantamweight title against Esham Pickering after the stewards of the BBBoC put their names together; purse bids are due on the 12th March.
And Tony Oakey who just defended his title successfully against Peter Haymer, now could face Dean Francis for his light-heavyweight title, once again purse bids for this contest need to be submitted on the 12th March.
Top prospect Paul Appleby could get a shot at the British title after seeing his eliminator with Martin Lindsay being called off due to an injury to Lindsay. Appleby has now been put forward to fight champion John Simpson with purse bids due on 12th March, It may only be Appleby's twelfth fight.
In English championship news the highly anticipated fight between John Murray and BBN's Young Boxer of 2007, John Fewkes, is set to take place at Nottingham on the 29th March, on the undercard of the Carl Froch-Denis Inkin WBC Super-middleweight title eliminator.
