Last Beijing chance for British amateurs by British Boxing Apr 7th 2008

Great Britain's boxing team, ably led by Head Coach Terry Edwards with Nigel Davis of Wales and Dave Pocknell of England in support, arrived in Athens for the final Olympic Qualifying Tournament, buoyed by the confidence of having already qualified seven boxers for Beijing 2008. An extra victory was racked up by the Brits on their way to Athens when they won an honourable, hard fought, points victory over Heathrow's formidably notorious Terminal 5. Okay, so the plane took off an hour and a half late and Darran Langley had not had a ticket reserved, even though Terry Edwards had an E-mail confirmation in his possession. Then, on arriving in Athens, half the teams' names were called over the tannoy with an apology that their bags had not got on their flight. Ah ha! The Brits are better than that, all the bags did arrive, hence victory to Team GB. Four Englishmen and a Scot know that this is it, their last chance of Olympic qualification - reaching the finals here in Athens will be good enough to book their tickets for China.
