Martin Gethin is set to make a first defence of his Midland Area lightweight title later this month.
The Walsall-born boxer will go toe-to-toe with Northampton's Leonard Lothian on the undercard of Wayne Elcock's British Title fight against Darren McDermott at the Aston Villa Leisure on Friday 25th April.
The 24-year-old, one of three boxing brothers, won the title thanks to a points win over Chesterfield's Craig Johnson back in September.
Since then, he has fought four times including an appearance at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas where he defeated Mexican Fabian Luque thanks to a fourth round stoppage.
Dubbed ‘The Quiet Man' by his team – 1st Team Promotions – Gethin has gone about his business in an understated fashion but has built up an impressive undefeated record of 13-0-1(5).
“Martin is a genuine guy who we all want to see do well,” said promoter PJ Rowson. “He comes from a ‘proper' boxing family and is a very exciting prospect.
“He's a quiet man. He doesn't go around saying this and that; he just gets on with things and goes about his business in a clinical manner.
“He's undefeated and has five knock-outs to his name. That speaks for itself.”
