Mitchell ready for US test by British Boxing May 19th 2008

Kevin Mitchell has declared himself 'ready to take on the world' as he prepares to defend his WBO Intercontinental title belt on the undercard of the Kelly Pavlik-Gary Lockett bout on Saturday 7th June at the Boardwalk Hotel in Atlantic City in the USA.     Mitchell's opponent for the bout has yet to be named, but speaking to Setanta Sports News he said:  "I know the level I'm at, I'd like to fight someone along the lines of an ex-world champion, a name. Someone who's going to push me, someone who, if I'm not on top form, that's going to beat me. And if I am performing well, someone I can look good against."    Mitchell will be making his US debut and he is determined to extend his winning streak. "I've not fought out of the country as a pro yet. As an amateur I went to Russia, Italy and America. I boxed in America in the Junior Olympics. It's always a packed crowd out there - you never see an empty seat. I think they're going to like what I do out there."    23-year-old Mitchell is looking beyond his next fight and has newly crowned WBO champion Alex Arthur in his sights. "He's definitely in my plans sometime down the line. It would be a brilliant fight for me. I'd like it at the O2 or somewhere like that, but obviously Alex would want me to go up to Scotland. It would be a good fight for me in the future."
