Open Evening for Frank Bruno Boxing Academy by British Boxing May 20th 2008

A new boxing academy, named after and personally endorsed by the former WBC heavyweight champion of the World, Frank Bruno, was launched recently in South East London. During the launch Frank Bruno claimed “This Academy will help young boxers get a better education, while increasing each boxer's chance of making the 2012 Olympics." The Frank Bruno Boxing Academy has been created through a joint partnership of Boxing4Schools, Frank Bruno and The Priory School in Orpington and has also been endorsed by Paul King CEO of the ABAE. The main aim of the Academy is to allow 16 to 18 year old boxers to gain further academic qualifications while developing their fitness and boxing skills in a well disciplined environment surrounded by like minded young people. The two year Academy programme, which is due to start in September, will allow young people to enrol on a formal curriculum course of Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications which could lead to a place at South Bank University as well as paid work with the local borough leisure provider, Bromley My Time. Other courses on offer include personal trainer courses as well as qualifications within the ABAE. All boxers will receive 10 hours of high level personalised boxing training, over seen by a approved ABAE Advanced coach working with Boxing4Schools coaches to put together an individual training program for each boxer working in partnership with each boxers club trainer, with the aim of raising each individual boxers own goals. The Open Evening and recruitment for the Frank Bruno Boxing Academy is on the 22nd May 2008 at The Priory School in Orpington at 7.00pm. It is hoped that 16 to 18 year olds in the South London region will be able to attend and become part of this new and exciting venture. If you want to be the next 2012 medallist see you on the 22nd.
