Willie wants a bite at the Big Apple by British Boxing Jul 19th 2008

Willie Limond has an opportunity to appear in New York's Madison Square Garden and may possibly miss out on a world title eliminator with Graham Earl, in order to box on the undercard of Joe Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jnr. The Glasgow joiner whom many north and south of the border, thought had been stung, when the count Amir Khan took in their Commonwealth title fight in the O2 arena in July of last year seemed to be somewhat slower than real time, will have a memory to cherish for ever. He's set to box the US based Ukrainian Dimitri Salita, and Limond's fight will be shown on American television and even although Limond has to step up to the 10 stone division it is a step he's willing to take to be able to say he's fought in the Garden. Limond is quoted as saying: "My opponent's had 28 fights and is still undefeated. "It's going to be a hard task but who could turn down this opportunity to fulfil a lifetime's ambition? "Now I've got the choice between Madison Square Garden and a world-title eliminator with Graham Earl. "I don't know where I'll stand with that contest (The Earl eliminator) if I go to New York but I can promise you I'm definitely going to the Big Apple. "This is the chance to fight where legends have fought and it's an opportunity I'm not going to let pass because this is a moment I'll cherish for ever."
