In news from the World Boxing Council's 48th annual convention at the Royal Hotel in Cancun, Mexico, John Murray will fight American Brandon Rios in a final eliminator to find a new mandatory challenger for the WBC lightweight title, Murray is ranked at number 3 by the organisation, while Rios is no.4.
Another final eliminator between Mexican's Antonio De Marco and Reyes Sanchez has also been called. If as rumoured current champion Humberto Soto does move up to light-welterweight the winner of De Marco-Sanchez will become undisputed WBC World champion.
At light-welter a final eliminator to determine the mandatory challenger was ordered between No. 1 ranked Ajose Olusegon of Nigeria, who also holds the British Commonwealth title, and No. 3 ranked Ali Chebah of France.
