We have built a system that looks at fights in the database to calculate
a rating for each boxer, with no influence from outside sources.
There are inaccuracies because of incomplete records, these are being
added to everyday so the ratings will continue to develop as new fights
are entered into the database.
The ratings are generated at approximately Midnight GMT every day.
The nationality of some fighters born outside the Commonwealth, but now based in Commonwealth countries, can be hard to establish. The Romanians such as Lucien Bute and Adrian Diaconu have not taken Canadian citizenship so are not eligible. It has been harder to establish the status of Vic Darchinyan, Sakio Bika, Joachim Alcine, Naoufel Ben Rabah and Mohammed Azzaoui but until I get something definite I have put them in. Any fighter holding any version of a “world” title is not allowed to also hold a Commonwealth title.
The champions shown are those recognised by the European Boxing Union of which the BBB of C is a member.
If a fighter has not fought for ten months, then irrespective of the reason, he is considered to be inactive. Exceptions may be made if he has a fight coming up (and at this time I am not sure that Scott Harrison has!) or is just a day or so over.
Many of the fighters listed are not eligible to fight for the EBU title as they are no longer based in/licensed in Europe, or never have been-Lyakovich, Jirov, Bute, Diaconu, Palyani-but they are still Europeans and these are ratings of European fighters.
