My father and grandfather both boxed and by the age of seven, I was doing any combat sport I could get into before settling into boxing, at the age of 12, at West Gorton Boxing Club (now closed, thanks to the Council) where I survived hundreds of rounds of sparring with the local youths and travellers.
I follow blue-collar fighters. Marvin Hagler is a big influence on me as was my teenage idol Steve Robinson. My blue-eyed boy right now is Jermain Taylor. I still think Audley Harrison is an amazing talent, he can still be champion one day.
I only discovered the internet boxing world in 2005, before then I went to fights and watched them on TV without browsing forums so I am playing catch-up 'net wise. It is good to see boxing flourishing on the internet yet I like to spend most of my time in the gyms and that is where I do my interviews.
I train at Shannon's Gym in Manchester and am due a beasting on the body belt. My aim is to bring the readers into the gyms and see the boxers and trainers outside of the formal interview situation.
